Maguro Spot: Fresh, Authentic Poke in the Heart of Honolulu

Second time coming here now- both times I had to wait in line since the shop is almost always busy. This second time around I waited around 30 mins in line before being able to order inside. Honestly though, I would argue that this place is worth the wait. The fish has been super fresh and delicious both times I’ve been here, and there’s generous portions of seafood in each bowl. I understand why there’s always a lineup at this place! Very delicious poke bowls.

Sad to see some of the 1&2 star reviews for poor service or quality once. I know that bad experience is what will resonate with most people, but would highly recommend to try a 2nd time because this is the best poke on Oahu in my opinion. We started coming here in 2022 when there was a daily line and fish sold out (not sure if it still happens daily), but the fish is super fresh and the variety they offer is second to none. You will not find another poke shop on the island that allows this much customization. That staff has always made recommendations for me stating this sauce or that wont mix well together which I appreciate. Ikura and Tobiko were both fresh and delicious (I’m very picky) and I will never not go here whenever I’m in town.

Very fresh ingredients and servers were very attentive to allergies. Theres usually a line up so be prepared to wait. Some tables outside you can use but it’s more of a takeaway place. Love that they don’t let the fish sit in the marinade, they make each order fresh.

I was told to try this place by a friend and was not dissapointed. Amazing food! I got the Rainbow special bowl and it was the freshest fish I've ever had in a poke bowl. Flavors were amazing and well worth the wait. I was surprised how long line was at 2pm but thought I'd give it a try. There's a quaint sitting area outside if you want a place to sit. My friend told me about this and me uber driver told me to try it when he dropped me off at hotel which was in same building. I got the large but would have been OK with medium size. So good I ate it all!

Very delicious first meal in Honolulu. The poke was fresh, there was a wide selection of toppings/drinks/snacks and the line was not too bad. I do wish the portion sizes were larger though given the price point. The tuna and blue marlin are fresh caught each morning. They also have a wide variety of sauces. Outdoor seating just be careful though because you may get attacked by birds!

After a hike to Diamond Head I was starving and saw a long line for this place, so naturally I was like it must be good. I've NEVER had poke but I always wanted to try it. Menu had a great selection and easy enough to navigate for a newbie. I ordered salmon, white rice, green onion. garlic, cucumber with teriyaki sauce. Service was fast and Cody the cashier was friendly. I wanted to love this bowl but 4/5 for me. Everything was fresh and the serving size was great. Maybe I'm just not a poke girl, but I want to be. I would still recommend and would be willing to try again on my next holiday to Hawaii.

This was the best poke I’ve ever had. The mix of flavors was perfectly balanced, with great toppings and delicious, authentic sauces: the Hawaiian sauce was my absolute favorite. There are a few outdoor seats, and everything is done quickly: you walk in, build your bowl, and you’re ready to go. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality. The only thing that could be improved would be adding a bit more space and providing some indoor seating. I remember one day there was a storm, and we had to wait for it to pass before we could sit and eat. Nonetheless, highly recommended!

I swear I fell a little in love with the poke here .. seriously everything is so fresh, beautifully seasoned, and made with such obvious care. They even had natto, which made my day! Yes, there’s always a line, but it moves quickly and before you know it you’re sitting outside with a bowl that tastes like ocean sunshine. They offer several types of fish, generous portions, and the whole team behind the counter works with this focused, friendly energy that makes you feel like you’re watching artists at work. Truly some of the best poke around… don’t miss it.
